About the Artist

Diana Ellis

Many years of life experiences, including traveling in my
country and other countries has nurtured my creativity;   the
most contributing attribute has been the wonderful family and
friends I have been surrounded by.  I am a 7th generation
Mainer.  I began my life journey in North Belgrade
Maine on beautiful Salmon Lake where I spent my
childhood.  I later moved to northern Maine where I
raised my two beautiful children.  I spent 10 years with my
wonderful husband on beautiful Phillips Lake in
Lucerne-In-Maine.   Again, I had the joy of spending
four seasons on the lake, watching the brilliance of spring as
the ice left the lake, and the cry of the loon told us new
growth and new beginnings were around the corner.  The
beautiful autumn leaves as they shone on the lake in a
beautiful afternoon sun.  My husband and I spent a great
deal of time on Mount Desert Island.  I now live in
Portland close to my three beautiful grandchildren.  I can
enjoy the ocean each day as I walk the beach and smell the
smells and feel the breeze so deeply at times it feels like a part
of my soul.  All of these wonderful experiences have inspired
me to create art.

Although my formal education is in business, and I spent
years as a corporate accountant and auditor my first passion is
watercolor.  I had the great fortune of 7 years of private
watercolor lessons with well known Maine artist Marnie
Souza from Cape Elizabeth.  I have also taken various
lessons and workshops in ME and MA.  In addition
to private shows my work has been displayed at Scarlet
Gallery in Portland and Cape Elizabeth Library.
My watercolors are also displayed in a NH
Corporation.  Collectors of my art are able to acquire my art
through various shows I do in the state.

I also do photography.  Photography and watercolors feel
like the perfect combination to me.  The photographs capture
the wonderfully beautiful moments, and the watercolors allow
me to add creativity to the moment.
